American Red Cross seeks heroes

The American Red Cross is honoring community heroes for their extraordinary acts of courage and kindness.

Nominations are being accepted in the following categories: adult and youth good Samaritans; blood services; citizenship; community impact; disaster relief; emergency medical assistance; firefighter; law enforcement; military; and, nurse.

Candidates must live or work in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kankakee, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry or Will counties. The heroic action must have taken place during the 2014 calendar year. Those chosen will be honored at a Heroes Breakfast on April 21.
