District 59 holding kindergarten registration

Elk Grove Township District 59 is hosting a kindergarten registration event for the 2017-2018 school year.

Parents and guardians can register their children at all elementary schools from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23. Registration will continue at each school from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on school days beginning Feb. 27.

Children who are 5 years old by Sept. 1 can attend kindergarten. Parents should bring their child's certified birth certificate and proof of residency in the district, such as a real estate tax bill, signed lease, driver's license or utility bill.

Choice program options, including the dual language program and Ridge Family Center for Learning, are available. Parents must apply by March 15. If the number of applicants exceeds available slots, the district will conduct a lottery.
