Beer and wine to be served at Bartlett Starbucks
Bartlett residents will soon be able to sip beer and wine in the evening at the Starbucks near Route 59 and Army Trail Road.
The Bartlett village board on Tuesday approved a special-use permit allowing the coffee shop to serve alcohol.
The proposal received a positive recommendation from the Bartlett's plan commission, and Trustee Aaron Reinke says there were no objections to the plan from the village board.
"Starbucks is very responsible, and it's already a community meeting and gathering place," Reinke said. "And they serve coffee during the day, so why not complement that service with alcohol when you're there in the evening."
In addressing the board during a meeting June 2, Community Development Director Jim Plonczynski said Starbucks has undergone major renovations to expand for the evening hours service.
Starbucks representatives say that, on the evening menu, they plan to serve 12 to 15 types of wine, ranging in price from $8 to $15 per glass and six craft beers, as well as small plates and flatbreads.
Along with the new evening service, Starbucks plans to stay open until 10 p.m., with the possibility of an 11 p.m. closing time if demand is high enough, Starbucks representatives said.
