East Webster girls' basketball coach dies
MABEN, Miss. (AP) - East Webster High School girls' head basketball coach Stan Hughey died Sunday at his home. He was 55.
Hughey was in his first season as the Lady Wolverines' head coach after spending 18 seasons at Oak Hill Academy in West Point.
Hughey's death was confirmed by East Webster principal Bill Brand.
The cause of death was not released. Funeral services are pending.
Hughey won 453 games as the head girls' basketball coach at Oak Hill Academy. His East Webster team was 8-0 heading into this week.
Hughey was introduced as the girls' basketball coach at East Webster High in May. His team was scheduled to play Monday and Tuesday at the Columbus Christian Academy Christmas Tournament. CCA Athletic Director Greg Watkins says the tournament had been cancelled.
