Kayak Myak is hosting a meetup float this weekend
BATAVIA - The Fox River is home to amazing wildlife and peaceful views that can be seen in a whole new way from the seat of a kayak paddling from Batavia to North Aurora. This is exactly what new business Kayak Myak Rentals LLC aims to provide for members of the Fox River Valley area.
"My brother, John Wold of North Aurora, introduced me to kayaking," said co-owner of Kayak Myak Debbie Colfer. "We started the business together because kayaking is a fun way to get out on the water and relax and enjoy nature."
Colfer works as an instructor of computer science at Elgin Community College. In June, Colfer and Wold formed Kayak Myak Rentals to share a sport they love with others and bring people closer to nature. They enjoy trying out new stretches of river and are always on the lookout for wildlife. Kayak Myak is hosting a meetup float this weekend in celebration of Art In Your Eye weekend. At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, people with reservations will meet in the All Spoked Up parking lot at 3 Webster St., right off Washington Avenue with a 10 a.m. launch time. The trip is $60 a person for up to eight people. To reserve your spot on this two-hour trip from Batavia to North Aurora, text (847) 204-1724. The individual float price includes a single person boat, paddle, whistle and life jacket as well as launch assistance, pick up in North Aurora and return car ride back to Batavia.
Kayak Myak hosts trips from South Elgin to St. Charles, Carpentersville to Elgin and Batavia to North Aurora for up to three-person kayak trips Monday through Fridays during the day and up to eight-person trips weekdays after 3 p.m. and weekends.
