Rolling Meadows Cornfest serves thousands
More than 2,000 people snapped up ears of fresh-picked sweet corn, played games and shopped vendors Saturday at Cornfest in Rolling Meadows.
The Community Church of Rolling Meadows has played host to the festival - the first Saturday in August - for 58 years.
Crowds lingered underneath a sprawling white tent along Kirchoff Road and dug into the summer staple. Didier Farms in Lincolnshire picked the corn just hours before the event and delivered bags of ears by the truckload.
By an unofficial tally, organizers say Cornfest drew 1,900 adults and 500 kids.
