Teachers get better deal than other retirees

Our Social Security COLA was 1.5 percent because this was the cost of inflation. This should be a standard that should be followed by federal and state agencies. Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 teachers are receiving a 3 percent increase and a 3 percent step increase the first year, a 2 percent base increase and a 3 percent step increase in the second year. Where is our step increase and why not 3 percent?

Retired people are joining the AARP every year. I believe they should be joining the teachers union - the benefits are greater and more pleasurable.
