Chicago man charged in 3 deaths in early 2000s
Cook County authorities have charged a Chicago man who they say killed three people in the early 2000s.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports 42-year-old Rickey Royal was charged Sunday with three counts of first-degree murder for deaths in 2000, 2001 and 2003. He was ordered held without bond and faces mandatory life in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors say they had enough evidence to charge him after new witnesses recently came forward.
Assistant State's Attorney Karen Kerbis says Royal was a gang member and the three fatal shootings were gang-related.
It wasn't immediately available if he has an attorney.
