Naperville invites students to serve on commissions
Naperville high school students interested in serving on city boards and commissions are being asked to submit one-page essays indicating which panel they'd like to serve on and why.
The essay also should include a description of the strengths they would bring to a board or commission; what they hope to gain from the experience; and the student's name, address, phone number, high school and grade level. Preference is given to high school juniors and seniors; however, all high school students may apply.
Applicant essays may be submitted by mail or in person to the mayor's office at the Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., or by email to trotze@naperville.il.us.
The deadline for submitting letters of interest is Monday, Sept. 28. Students should be aware of the required time commitment.
For a complete list of boards and commissions, their meeting dates and times, and more information about each group, visit naperville.il.us/boards.aspx. Note that the liquor commission, pension boards and board of fire and police commissioners do not use student representatives.
Students in need of more information should call the mayor's office at (630) 420-6018.
