Anti-abortion march planned for Jan. 18 in Palatine
The 2nd annual NorthWest Families March for Life will begin 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 455 N. Benton St., Palatine.
The march, co-sponsored by Northwest Families for Life, St. Theresa/St. Thomas Respect Life Committee, and other local churches and anti-abortion organizations, will convene inside the church and proceed along the sidewalk of Northwest Highway to the Rita Mullins Volunteer Plaza at Hicks Road.
Last year’s march drew 500 people, said organizer Maria Goldstein, a co-founder of NWFL. The theme for this year’s march is “Every Life Matters,” she said. It occurs in January near the anniversary date of the Roe v. Wade court decision which legalized abortion in the United States.
At the church, two speakers will share their stories: an adopted man who found his birth mother and a woman who chose to raise a child under difficult circumstances. At the plaza, Joe Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League will speak. Afterward, hot drinks, hot dogs and sweets will be served at the church.
