Wisconsin DNR reminds hunters caps must be 50 percent orange
MADISON, Wis. - The state Department of Natural Resources is reminding gun deer hunters their caps must be at least 50 percent blaze orange.
A 1980 state law requires that hunters' hats must be half blaze orange. The DNR says wardens sometimes come across hunters with caps that don't meet the requirement and others with faded blaze orange caps.
The agency says wardens will be carrying orange knit hats to give out to hunters when the 2014 nine-day gun season starts on Saturday. The hats are embroidered with the phrase "Hunt Safe in Wisconsin."
