Former Olympic wrestler fundraises for Kankakee YMCA
KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) - A two-time Olympic wrestler is working to raise money for the Kankakee Area YMCA.
The Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1GgLj2e ) reports 32-year-old Matt Gentry is leading a fundraising campaign that benefits children who can't otherwise afford programs at the YMCA in Kankakee. The campaign ends April 16 and seeks to raise $100,000.
Gentry wrestled for Canada at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. He did some of his training before the competitions at the local YMCA. He has since retired.
Gentry was born in the U.S., but having a Canadian mother made him eligible for the team. He also wrestled at North Valley High School and Stanford University.
