No injuries from Elk Grove Village garage fire

No injuries resulted from a fire that originated in a garage Saturday in Elk Grove Village that remains under investigation.

Elk Grove Village Fire Department Battalion Chief William Sellers said the blaze started in the attached garage that was converted into living quarters on the 1000 block of Maple Lane, just off Tonne Road on the village’s southeast side.

Sellers said about $75,000 in damage was caused to the garage and part of the house, including an kitchen and laundry room area. He said investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.

Elk Grove Village firefighters received assistance from departments in nearby Itasca and Wood Dale. Sellers said the flames were doused in about 15 minutes and that there were no injuries to the residents or firefighters.

Sellers said six residents of the home were displaced due to the fire, smoke and water damage. They had to make arrangements to stay elsewhere.
