Abreu home run lone highlight in Sox loss to Orioles

Another day for the White Sox, another loss to a better team.

After falling to the first-place Orioles Monday night at U.S. Cellular Field, the Sox lost 5-1 Tuesday night.

Sox starter Jose Quintana and Baltimore counterpart Chris Tillman were locked in a 1-1 tie until the sixth, when the Orioles scored 3 runs, 2 of them coming on Chris Davis' double.

Quintana (6-10) allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings. Tillman (10-5) went 8 innings and allowed 1 run on 3 hits.

The White Sox' one highlight came in the first inning, when Jose Abreu connected for a home run off Tillman.

The 405-shot to left field pulled Abreu into a tie for the major-league lead with 32 homers. Baltimore's Nelson Cruz and Miami's Giancarlo Stanton also have 32.

Abreu's last home run was on July 29, a span of 19 games.

"He's hitting for average," manager Robin Ventura said of Abreu. "He's had some big hits for us. The power stuff will be there. Watching him take batting practice, you know he still has power. It's not like it disappeared."
