Speed limit changing on Ela Road near Long Grove Road

The speed limit along Ela Road will change from 45 mph to 40 mph from Long Grove Road north for about a quarter mile. Local residents were concerned about the speed on a stretch of Ela Road, so the Lake County Division of Transportation conducted a speed study along a portion of Ela Road. The recommendation was to decrease the speed limit, and the change was approved at the Lake County Board meeting this Tuesday. A preliminary engineering study will look at improvements to the intersection of Ela and Long Grove roads. A public meeting will be held later this year to gather public input on the project. Construction is currently programmed to begin in 2019.
