Lake Zurich chamber issues theft alert

Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce officials issued an alert Monday to business owners about possible lunchtime thieves who distract customers.

Officials said several reports have been lodged with police regarding thieves targeting handbags in particular. It's believed the purported thieves are 20 to 60 years old and are neatly dressed to blend in with others in the Lake Zurich area.

Consumers are advised to keep their handbags close, do not leave unattended and be suspicious of anyone who approaches. Business owners who suspect or witness a crime of this nature are urged by the chamber to contact their local police immediately.
