Dense fog advisory in effect until 11 a.m.

A dense fog advisory is in effect for Lake and Cook counties until 11 a.m., meteorologists from the National Weather Service said.

Officials said the fog will reduce visibility to a quarter mile or less, especially near Lake Michigan.

Travel will be hazardous in spots during the morning commute, officials warn, and people are urged to slow down, leave plenty of distance ahead and be alert.
