Elgin man faces Class X felony, other charges
A 22-year-old Elgin man faces drug-related charges following a two-month undercover investigation, police said Thursday.
Mark A. McDaniel, of the 1000 block of Todd Farm Drive, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, a Class X felony, and two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, both Class I felonies, Elgin police said in a news release.
Members of the Elgin Police Department’s tactical response team executed a search warrant Jan. 3 in the 500 block of Slade Avenue following an undercover investigation that stemmed from a tip about drug sales and other criminal activity, police said.
Officers from the Special Investigations Division recovered five grams of heroin, two ounces of cannabis, and other items indicative of drug sales from the residence.
McDaniel appeared in Kane County bond court Thursday where his bail was set at $200,000. He is next due in court Jan. 17.
