Dallas defender Matt Hedges added to US roster
CARSON, Calif. (AP) - Dallas defender Matt Hedges has been added to the U.S. roster for a training camp before exhibitions against Chile and Panama, the 15th newcomer in the group.
The addition Thursday of Hedges, Dallas' 24-year-old captain, increased the total of players in camp to 29.
Players started arriving Monday. Training shifts to Santiago, Chile, from Jan. 25-29 around an exhibition against La Roja on Jan. 28 at Rancagau. The Americans return home to play Panama at Carson on Feb. 8.
The defending champion U.S. is preparing for its July 7 opener at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean.
