Increase funding for cancer research

As talks in Congress focus on finalizing the 2024 budget, lawmakers have a responsibility to ensure funding continues for life-saving programs that help people learn about healthy choices to reduce the risk of cancer, get screenings like mammograms and pave the way for tomorrow’s cures. We’re making incredible headway in this fight, with cancer mortality rates declining every year since the 1990s thanks to federal dollars, but it’s critical that we keep this momentum going.

Recently, I traveled from Waukegan to Washington D.C. to ask Sen. Durbin, Sen. Duckworth and Rep. Schneider to commit to increasing funding for cancer research and cancer prevention programs. I know firsthand the impact these programs can make after my battle with cancer.

Sen. Durbin, Sen. Duckworth and Rep. Schneider, myself and the record 2 million Americans estimated to hear the words “you have cancer” this year are counting on your support.
