Report: Hawk Harrelson cutting back 2016 Sox broadcast workload
Ken "Hawk" Harrelson can put the ABBA and Huey Lewis and the News CDs back in their cases.
Those were Harrelson's preferred choices of music when he would make the long drive to and from his home in Granger, Ind., and U.S. Cellular Field for Chicago White Sox home TV broadcasts.
The 74-year-old Harrelson wanted to cut back his schedule this season, but he was fired up by the roster additions last winter and was in the broadcast booth for most Sox games.
Following the White Sox' disappointing 76-86 season, Bruce Levine of WSCR 670-AM reported Harrelson will return in 2016 in a limited role - 78 road games, Opening Day and July 25-26 home games against the Cubs.
While airplane travel is involved for road games, hotels are typically close to where the Sox are playing and would be easier for Harrelson than making the commute from Granger to the Cell.
The White Sox would neither confirm nor deny the report on Harrelson's reduced workload.
