MHS student's animation wins first place

Mundelein High School junior Douglas Alberts took first place for his animation piece, "Futura," in the annual Chicagoland Television Educators Council video festival April 24. More than 45 schools from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin submitted more than 800 entries that were critiqued by professionals in the industry.
CTEC is an organization dedicated to providing media educators across the Chicagoland area the opportunity to share curriculum and resources necessary for creating a unique experience for students in high school media programs.
One of the largest events held every year is the video festival, where students from across the area submit their work to be judged by industry professionals. In addition to the video festival, CTEC holds multiple daylong institutes for teachers of media.
"I am not surprised by Douglas's accomplishment," said MHS television/media instructor Kent Meister. "He is always a perfectionist with his work. He is easy to teach because he is never afraid to try new things and he learns new skills very quickly."
Alberts is planning to attend college and pursue a degree in the area of computer animation.
