Boy Scouts to serve up pancake breakfast
What has 150 dozen eggs, 120 pounds of sausage, 75 loaves of bread, 100 pounds of pancake mix and more than 100 gallons of coffee, milk and a variety of juices?
Boy Scout Troop 2's 40th annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, which will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 115 N. Spring St., Elgin.
The menu includes sausage, a variety of eggs, French toast, fry bread, toast, pancakes, two juices, coffee, tea and milk.
After 40 years of hosting the breakfast, you know the Scout cooks have figured out how to get it right. Start your Super Bowl Sunday with a big breakfast. You won't need another bite until the big game.
Cost is $7, $5 for seniors, age 60 and older, or $25 for a family ticket for immediate family members. Kids under age 5 eat free. Members of a police, fire department or a branch of the armed services that show up in uniform are half price. Tickets are available at the door.
Troop 2 provides scouting experiences for boys, not only from Elgin, but many surrounding communities, with weekly meetings, monthly campouts, opportunities for trips to summer camps and other high adventure trips. The troop donates more than 2,000 hours annually to service projects, Eagle projects and other activities in the greater Elgin area.
