Washington Street crossing in Grayslake closing Oct. 1-3
The Canadian National Railroad will be closing the railroad crossing on Washington Street in Grayslake beginning Oct. 1, to install new gates on the temporary roadway as part of the Washington Street Underpass construction project.
The closure of the crossing will begin early in the morning Oct. 1 and the street will reopen to through traffic late in the afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 3.
A detour will take through drivers to Route 83, to Rollins Road, to Hainesville Road.
Local traffic will have access to the Metra Station entrance west of the railroad tracks. Washington Street will be closed to all traffic east of the railroad tracks to Lake Street. Pedestrians will have access to the Metra Station from both directions.
