I was re-appointed in 2014 when another trustee stepped down. I am familiar with the village issues and have a relationship the the residents and staff. My telecommunications back ground has saved the village a substantial amount of money based on my involvement with the integration of the new computer system. I have also been able to obtain twice the amount of service and support for the phone system that was purchased a few years back. This phone system is scalable and can support the entire village and can grow as the village grows. This was a substantial savings to the village as well. I was able to put in place the use of laptops for meetings versus the paper packets that were handed out for all meetings. This has streamlined the preparation for all meetings. Because I work from home I am available with little notice to address and resident issues. I make myself available 24x7. My past experience and current employment make me a asset to the village. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I believe the property taxes are to high especially with the recession and the amount of people that are unemployed. Residents are struggling everyday to stay in their homes and provide a decent living to their families. Our sales taxes are in line with the surrounding villages. From the village prospective I am not in favor of increasing anymore property taxes.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? Our police department is very well prepared. As far as the fire department we must establish a revenue stream to support ambulance service to all of Antioch. Because we have used the Antioch Rescue Squad for the last 70+ years wee have not needed to create a line item in our budget. As of last year we have had to start to pay for that service. My concern is if a revenue stream is not established how will that service be funded.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The village has done a great job trimming the budget. The village has reduced headcount by 35% and we have trimmed every department. I don't believe the village has put enough in our reserve accounts. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I believe the village, township, first fire district and the Rescue Squad need to mend the relationship and work towards a common goal. That goal should be built on trust and providing ambulance service to the entire community. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I believe what makes Antioch such a great place to live is all the activity and programs that are offered to the residents. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Chris Christie what you see is what you get. Not everyone will like your answers but, you need to be truthful. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Just because you can take advantage of someone doesn't mean you should. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would spend it on more community service. There are plenty of organizations that need help and resources. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math was what I really liked. It has helped me in all my computer troubleshooting problems over the last 35 years. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Don't take advantage of people. Treat everyone with respect and equally.
