We All Scream for Ice Cream at Westgate!
The PTA at Westgate Elementary school recently hosted its annual Ice Cream Social. All Westgate family members were treated to a choice of over nine ice cream novelties. Entertainment was provided by South Middle School's Jazz Band, of which many members were Westgate alumni!
It is a Westgate tradition to invite all incoming kindergarten families to the event as well. Westgate Principal, Dr. Caz Badynee, read the books "Shark vs. Train" and "If You Plant a Seed" to a crowd of eager young faces.
Something new to the Ice Cream Social this year was the addition of the LMC's Anderson Book Fair. Over $1000 was raised to purchase new bookshelves for the library.
Dr. Badynee reflected on the evening, "The Ice Cream Social is such a great way to show Westgate as a caring, compassionate, and exciting school. For incoming kindergarten families, they get to meet and interact with the principal, teachers, and the PTA for the very first time. And with Westgate alumni playing in the jazz band, it's such a nice way to showcase the present and future for their young children."
