Letter: The right mix for village board

April 4 is Election Day. This is a very significant day in Elk Grove Village. I say this because we have the chance to elect an incumbent, an appointed trustee and a new candidate to our village board as trustees.

If my memory serves me this is the first time for this configuration in the village. The candidates for trustees may be making history they are not unknown to the community.

Steve Schmidt, the incumbent, is known to most as our former police chief as well as serving on the board. Steve brings a dynamic to the board that is one of a kind.

Another candidate is Tammy Miller, appointed to the board filling a vacancy. Tammy was stepping into big shoes, and is working very hard. I have known her for many years. She certainly was a credit to the park district where she held a responsible position. Her service with the Community Character Coalition for many years shows dedication to principles. She is a caring person, and a very smart woman. Being a trustee is complex and important. Tammy has proven her value and is worthy of your vote.

The last but not least is Kathy Jarosch. The name of Jarosch is well known in this village because of the bakery. It is one of the oldest companies here. Kathy helps to make this not just the oldest but the best. She takes her trustee responsibility at our library to heart. Doing her best in everything she does, we know she will do her best on the village board.

I know what it is to be an elected official so with this in mind, I can't think of three finer candidates. This village is lucky to have this opportunity to elect these three.
