Illinois man arrested after driving on Iowa City foot bridge

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Police say an Illinois man has been arrested after he drove a car down a spiral pedestrian bridge in Iowa City.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports (http://icp-c.com/1BCsXV7 ) that 19-year-old Brian David Bordwell, of Geneso, Illinois, was charged with drunken driving following multiple reports early Friday morning that a car was driving on the pedestrian bridge that crosses Riverside Drive in Iowa City.

Iowa City Police Sgt. Scott Gaarde says Bordwell drove eastbound on the bridge and down the spiraled exit that leads to Iowa Avenue. Reports say Bordwell's car was found parked on the sidewalk.

Police say a preliminary breathalyzer test showed Bordwell's blood-alcohol content was more than 0.08.

Online court records do not yet list an attorney to request comment on Bordwell's behalf.
