Teacher at school for visually impaired arrested
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Illinois State Police say they've arrested an instructor at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
A statement from the agency says police arrested 28-year-old James R. Strader of Jacksonville on Thursday. It says he's worked as a rehabilitation and mobility instructor at the school since July.
The statement offers no details, including where the alleged abuse occurred.
The Morgan County state's attorney's office is also involved in the investigation. Office spokesmen say Strader will remain in jail at least until a bond hearing in coming days.
The prosecutor's office didn't know if Strader has an attorney. And there's no public telephone listing for Strader. A message seeking comment from school wasn't immediately returned.
The school is in Jacksonville, 30 miles west of Springfield.
