Texting cartoon was no laughing matter

I am very disappointed in the Daily Herald's choice to run the Moderately Confused cartoon in the Wednesday, Sept. 16, edition. Jeff Stahler's cartoons are some of my favorites, but a cartoon of a mechanic telling a customer that her brakes need replacing because of texting while driving is not funny.

The message is that texting while driving really isn't that bad of a behavior and the only thing that might happen is that your brakes will wear out. Did the Daily Herald miss the Illinois state law (625 ILCS 5/12-610.2) that took effect July 16, 2014, that makes it illegal to use a hand-held cellphone for calling as well as texting while driving in Illinois?

It is well documented that people get killed by texting drivers. You need to do better, Daily Herald.
