Dundee Lions name Nancy Hanrahan as Lion of the Year

Nancy Hanrahan was recognized as Lion of the Year by the Dundee Township Lions Club at a recent installation meeting.

Hanrahan was the chairwoman this year for the Lions' pancake breakfast at the annual Heritage Fest as well as chairwoman for the diabetes fundraising drive for the Lions.

Lions president Jim McClung noted the award is also in recognition of her contribution to the club throughout the years as she has served in many other capacities on the board of directors including being club president.

Another Lion given special recognition was Mike Buhrmann. He was the chairman for the Christmas tree sale, the club's largest fundraiser.

For the occasion, the Dundee Township Lions were honored by having the District Governor-Elect Bob Fowler to do the installation service for the club. McClung, as president, thanked members and the community for their continued support. In May, local residents donated more than $800 to Lions club members standing outside storefronts as part of the diabetes fundraising drive, supporting the club's efforts in collecting for diabetes prevention and research.

This summer, the Lions will be busy running the concessions for Dundee Township Park District's "Concerts in the Park." All profits from this will be given back to charity.
