St. Theresa School Gala to honor Cardinal George

A tribute to Cardinal Francis George will take place Saturday during the St. Theresa School Green and Gold Gala fundraising auction and dinner.

In March, George had agreed to be the guest of honor at the fundraising event. He died April 17.

Terri Kolbus, the Palatine school's director of admissions, said organizers would pay tribute to George throughout the event, which will be held Stonegate Banquet and Conference Centre in Hoffman Estates, and include live and silent auctions, raffle prizes, dinner and live music.

Kolbus said they were unable to schedule an alternate guest of honor on such short notice.

Last year, the event raised almost $80,000 for the Catholic school. This year's theme is "A Walk Down Memory Lane ... Celebrating 60 years!"

Tickets are $100.
