Learn about Illinois State Nature Preserves at Feb. 4 Senior Stroll program
While it's cold outside, area seniors are invited inside Barbara Belding Lodge at Brewster Creek Forest Preserve in St. Charles to learn about Illinois State Nature Preserves, as part of the monthly "Senior Stroll" program series.
Seniors meet at 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month for a leisurely stroll around a Kane County Forest Preserve. During cold-weather months, "Senior Stroll" moves indoors.
On Thursday, Feb. 4, they will learn about the difference between a forest preserve and an Illinois Nature Preserve. Forest Preserve District Nature Programs Manager Valerie Blaine will tell the story of the Illinois Nature Preserves system, and explain how forest preserves earn the distinction of nature preserve status. In this presentation, you'll learn how many areas in Kane County are protected for their unique ecological and geological features.
This program will be 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is not required for this free program. All seniors are welcome to join us for festivities, fellowship and more!
The Barbara Belding Lodge is within Brewster Creek Forest Preserve at 6N921 Route 25, St. Charles.
