BC extends coach Addazio's contract through 2020

BOSTON (AP) - Boston College has extended football coach Steve Addazio's contract by two years through 2020 after he led them to 14 wins in his first two seasons.

The Eagles (7-5) will face Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27.

Addazio replaced Frank Spaziani after the Eagles went 2-10 in 2012 and led them to a 7-6 record, including a 42-19 loss to Arizona in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl. This year they nearly beat unbeaten Florida State in the next to last game, losing 20-17.

"To lead a team to 14 wins and two consecutive bowl games during what was supposed to be a rebuilding process is a great accomplishment," BC athletic director Brad Bates said.

Addazio took over a program that had consecutive losing seasons for the first time in 14 years.
