Habitat to dedicate 4 townhouses in Glen Ellyn
Four families will be able to move into new homes when DuPage Habitat for Humanity dedicates the final four-unit townhouse building at the Prairie Green development in Glen Ellyn.
The four homes, part of the 12-unit Prairie Green townhouse development at Butterfield Road and Route 53, will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20.
All the units are LEED certified and provide homeownership opportunities for 12 hardworking, limited-income DuPage families. In keeping with the Habitat model, families must qualify to purchase the home, agree to invest at least 250 hours volunteering with Habitat, sign a 30-year no-interest mortgage, and agree to maintain the exterior of the home in perpetuity.
"Over 3,000 volunteer have dedicated their time to build these four homes," said Dave Neary, DuPage Habitat's executive director. "It is finally time to celebrate the dedication and hard work that has gone into making our families dreams' of homeownership a reality."
At the dedication, Habitat is expecting more than 200 attendees, consisting of partner families, sponsors, volunteers, staff and friends. Public funds include HOME funds allocated by DuPage County and Illinois Homeownership Tax Credits.
