Hospital emergency room flooded after water main break
PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - A water main break has forced officials at McLaren Oakland hospital to close its emergency room to new patients.
Friday morning's external break flooded the emergency room and other parts of the facility in Pontiac, north of Detroit.
The break occurred at the hospital's southwest corner. Other buildings in the area also were impacted by the main break.
Hospital spokeswoman Sharyl Smith said patients in the facility's East Tower were moved to the West Tower. She told The Detroit News that officials "haven't even had a chance to get in and really start any sort of assessment" due to the flooding.
Temperatures in the area have been below freezing for the past few days.
