Lake County Opioid Initiative honored

Lake County Opioid Initiative has received a national award, officials announced Friday. Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim, who co-founded the effort, said the achievement award came from the National Association of Counties. Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor presented the award to the opioid initiative members at a monthly meeting Thursday in Grayslake. Among its many efforts, the initiative has helped in expanding the availability of prescription drop boxes while working with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration's Chicago region office.
