Volunteers to hit the roadways this weekend for ALS donations

Volunteers with the Les Turner ALS Foundation will be canvassing the streets of Barrington for donations May 9 and 10.

Wearing yellow smocks and toting silver plastic jugs, the volunteers will ask drivers stopped at intersections all over the village for money to help fight ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

"This is an opportunity to donate toward a disease that seems to touch someone close to everyone," event organizer Bob Lee said. "We're making a difference one car at a time."

Those who donate will receive coupons for Barrington businesses, including a free taco from Paul's Burrito Express. a free Handmade Chocolate Candy Bar from Anderson's Candy Store and a free juice or smoothie from Pure Organic Juicery.
