Suspicious package leads to temporary train delays

What appeared to be a suspicious package on the tracks near the Aurora Metra station temporarily delayed trains on the BNSF line Tuesday, Metra officials said.

Outbound trains could not make it all the way to Aurora, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said, and trains could not leave Aurora either.

According to the Metra BNSF Twitter account, the trains were at one point operating 10 to 110 minutes behind schedule Tuesday. They are now operating on a normal schedule, according to a Twitter post dated 37 minutes ago.

Police determined there was no threat, Gillis said.
