Palatine edges CL Central

Shane Devero's single in the top of the seventh inning plated Nolan Gavin, helping Palatine pull ahead for a 7-6 victory over host Crystal Lake Central in nonconference play Monday at Lippold Park.

Matt Saltess drove in 3 runs and had 2 hits for the Pirates. Chris Refka earned a victory in relief, allowing 3 runs over 3⅓ innings.

Devero finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI, and Gavin and Chris Macahon both doubled for Palatine.
