Greenfield father faces charges in infant son's death
GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) - A suburban Indianapolis man has been arrested in the death of his 3-month-old son.
Twenty-one-year-old Charles Jenkins of Greenfield was arrested Tuesday on one count of neglect of a dependent causing death.
Police and paramedics were called to a home Nov. 5 and found the baby unconscious while in Jenkins' care. The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died Saturday.
The Marion County Coroner's Office determined the infant died of blunt force trauma to the head and ruled his death a homicide.
Hancock County prosecutor Brent Eaton said Thursday afternoon that Jenkins pleaded not guilty at his initial court appearance. He didn't have a lawyer present.
Jenkins is being held on $50,000 bail at the Hancock County Jail.
He could face additional charges in his son's death.
