Outlook: Both teams had opportunities to win last week and let them slip through their fingers.

Palatine dominated defending state champion Stevenson for a half and then, after falling behind, nearly rallied.

The Pirates got terrific play at quarterback from Zach Oles, who threw for 273 yards and touchdown while rushing for 115 yards and another touchdown. Wheeling lost a tough 40-34 contest to Glenbrook North.
