Letter: Behold the failures of Republicans

I note with horror the Supreme Court's gun ruling, essentially that public carry of a firearm is authorized by the Constitution. No more trips to the mall for me!

Conveniently, this ruling comes within days of the Court being awarded round-the-clock protection. If the Second Amendment is so pertinent, let them protect themselves! They can join the rest of us, who now fear the witless gun owners they have empowered.

This session of the Supreme Court, as assembled by a Trumpian Republican Congress, has proved beyond a doubt it lacks integrity and has little regard for the social and constitutional effects of their actions.

The Republicans have won a great victory, in the casting aside of Roe v Wade. Can't wait to see them slither back into their crevices when the time comes to authorize increased welfare funds to pay for the consequential population growth and social programs. After all, funding the poor has never been in their wheelhouse.

I remember Ronald Reagan's "trickle-down economics." It didn't amount to diddly for us hourly workers, but it made the wealthy happy.

And the Court citing 18th Century thought processes was really cute. In that time period they had little to no idea when life began. We have only recently have done so. They allowed abortion till movement was felt but didn't call it life till birth.

The laws are one thing, but morals and religious principles we can't impose on each other.

The opinion that Jeff Clark was not qualified to head the Department of Justice, as voiced by real Justice Department heads, falls in line with Donald Trump's lack of qualifications for the presidency.

The Jan. 6 hearings have shown in specific detail the lengths Trump took and the illegal actions of himself and others in his orbit.

Much is being made about the similarities in the hearings between Trump's final days and the Watergate hearings. I would note that while Richard Nixon is considered a lowlife crook, he quit when he was exposed. Trump didn't have even enough integrity to quit in the face of repeated exposure of his malfeasance.
