Elusive missing dog succumbs to lure of a cheeseburger
KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) - Lucy had been elusive since she bolted from her northeast-Illinois home on Dec. 28.
But in the end she couldn't resist the lure of a cheeseburger.
The 2-year-old German shepherd mix was the subject of a weekslong search between her home in Pembroke Township and Bourbonnais about 20 miles away.
According to The Daily Journal in Kankakee (http://bit.ly/1JClQ2z ), a neighborhood in Bourbonnais is where owner Mark West found the dog in a trap on Sunday. She'd been lured there by a fast-food cheeseburger.
Lucy endured some cold weather along the way, but veterinarian Amanda Fedrow says she's in good shape.
West said he probably walked 200 miles searching for his dog. He had help searching for his dog from other animal lovers.
