Aurora church presents grad with scholarship

Aurora's Alex Martin received a $500 scholarship from Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Aurora during worship services Aug. 2. Ralph Brian, church administrative council chairman, made the presentation.

During the service, Martin also served as liturgist and as a communion server.

Martin, a 2015 graduate of Aurora Central Catholic High School, will attend the University of St. Francis in Joliet. He has been accepted into St. Francis' honors biology program and Duns Scotus Honors program. Classes open Aug. 24.

At the school, Martin was active in dramatics and National Honor Society.

Funds for Martin's scholarship were raised at a church brunch held July 28.
