Man charged with giving girlfriend HIV
A Chicago man has been charged with criminal transmission of HIV for failing to tell his ex-girlfriend he had the disease and giving her the virus, authorities said.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported 31-year-old Johanson Little was ordered held Thursday in lieu of $750,000 bail.
Assistant State's Attorney Dan Griffin said Little and the woman dated for a year between June 2012 and June 2013. Little had been HIV positive since 2003. According to Griffin, the woman in February tested positive for HIV.
Griffin said the woman found out from Little's family that his wife died of AIDS, not ovarian cancer as he claimed.
Authorities said Little acknowledged when confronted by the woman that he knew of his HIV infection during their relationship.
It wasn't immediately known if Little has a lawyer.
