Glenbard East principal named assistant superintendent
Glenbard East High School Principal Josh Chambers has been named assistant superintendent for human resources in Glenbard High School District 87.
He'll assume his new duties July 1 to replace Assistant Superintendent Rod Molek, who is retiring June 30.
The school board approved Chambers' appointment on Jan. 12.
"I have been very fortunate to spend the last seven years at Glenbard East," Chambers said. "East is an exceptional school that has great kids, an outstanding staff, and a supportive community. It will be tough to move on, but I look forward to being able to support all four Glenbard high schools in this new position.
"I am confident that I will be able to do my part to continue to make Glenbard District 87 one of the premiere school districts in Illinois."
Chambers has been principal at Glenbard East since 2008. Glenbard East has earned numerous distinctions, including being named to The Washington Post's Challenge Index every year for the past seven.
Superintendent David Larson said Chambers "has fostered a positive and inviting student culture and environment at Glenbard East. A key strength in his leadership style is the ability to build strong relationships. All of his interactions are genuine and authentic."
He said Chambers "possesses keen insight and is able to keep a pulse on problems, issues and opportunities, both in his school and throughout the district."
Chambers completed certification in educational leadership at Aurora University. He earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University and a bachelor's degree in history from Princeton University.
Prior to coming to Glenbard East, he was assistant principal for administrative services at Community High School in West Chicago. His other experience in Community High School District 94 includes working as a dean, student support center coordinator and academic skills center coordinator.
He also has experience as a teacher at Lawndale Community Academy in Chicago.
Before shifting his career to education, Chambers worked for Pansophic Systems in Lisle.
