Batavia art festival adds food trucks, live music

Suburban art fairs can be quiet, highbrow affairs.

Not Batavia's Art in Your Eye festival.

Although the works of about 70 artists took center stage Saturday, live music, craft beer and food trucks were added to the entertaining mix.

Artists stayed busy, too. Pamela Hamilton, who lives in Geneva, worked on an oil pastel piece while shoppers browsed her tent.

Hamilton dabbled in the medium in college, took a break to raise her family and resumed her craft again about four years ago. She enjoys working with pastels because the "pure ground pigment" is "so colorful."

The 10th annual fine arts show continues 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Batavia Riverwalk, 100 N. Island Ave.

Water Street Studios will hold hands-on activities - take a spin with a clay wheel - from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is free.
