Hanover Park woman dies from injuries suffered in crash

A Hanover Park woman severely injured in a two-car crash Friday morning in Hanover Park has died, authorities said Monday.

Kelly Brzezinski, 21, was driving her 1999 Hyundai sedan north on County Farm Road near Ontarioville Road about 8:55 a.m. Friday when she lost control of the vehicle through an S-curve and struck another car, Deputy Police Chief Andy Johnson said.

Brzezinski was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where she was pronounced dead Sunday, according to police.

Brzezinski lived with her boyfriend Marquis Coulter, 24, and their two children, Marquis, 3, and Giovanni, 1.

Coulter said she was a great mother to their two children and cared more about their family than anything.

"When God says its your time to go, you have to go," Coulter said, pausing before he continued. "But, she didn't need to go, I needed her."

An online memorial fund for Brzezinski has been established at www.gofundme.com/KellyBrzezinski.

The fund was established by Jose Charles, the owner of Charles Fast Food, which is next to the Lake Street Shell gas station in Hanover Park where Brzezinski worked.

Charles said he started the fund to help Brzezinski's family.

Jeff Carlo, the Shell station manager and Brzezinski's boss, said she was a very hard worker and would volunteer to help him and other employees out after work.

"She was the type of person who cared," Carlo said. "She was just phenomenal."

Police are still investigating the crash.

The driver of the other car, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries, Johnson said. No charges have been filed, and both drivers were wearing seat belts, he added.
