Men get probation for random attack at U of Illinois

URBANA, Ill. (AP) - A judge has sentenced two brothers and two other men to probation after they pleaded guilty to taking part in a drunken, random attack on a University of Illinois student.

Champaign County Judge Harry Clem sentenced 23-year-old Jeremiah Carter and 20-year-old Daniel Carter to 30 months of probation after they pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in the Feb. 22 attack on campus. The judge also ordered the Danville brothers to stay off the campus.

According to The News-Gazette in Champaign (http://bit.ly/1QgJkQo), two other defendants, Deterryus Henderson and Duane Williams, both 20, were sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to the same charge.

According to testimony, the men were drinking on campus before the attack.

The unnamed victim lost a tooth.
